Obituary - Jill Ames

 

                           Jill Christine Ames

                            12^th August 1946 - 4^th April 2022

It is with great regret that we record the passing of Jill Ames.

Over the years walking first with the Algarve Wednesday Walkers and then with the AWW offshoots, the WAGS and the APAPS, she had proved herself a resolute and remarkably tough walker, Terry always there by her side when needed.

Sadly however, over the past two or three years, her condition worsened; she required ever increasing care and could no longer walk with us.

On 11^th April, a group of friends, the various walking groups well-represented among them, gathered at the Albufeira Crematorium to say farewell to her, with others watching via Zoom. Terry Ames and Monica Mace each said a few words to the gathering, as did Jill´s very old friend Heather from England via Zoom who spoke of the fun the two of them had had together when they were young and then closed with a poem..
